Being critical solely to get your point across is not very helpful.

We don’t need your opinion. What we need is your ability to listen to our story, empathize, and provide feedback that challenges us to see things differently.

Being opinionated when the person in front of you is looking for valuable feedback is selfish. Your agenda has become the focus, not our collective growth.

The alternative is to be generous. Because generous feedback helps us both move forward.

It processs is collaborative. The one giving the feedback can embrace an opportunity to provide value. The one receiving the feedback can embrace vulnerability as she strives to do better work. Both benefit.
