Perfection is an excuse

It's an excuse to hold back.

Perfection keeps us from putting forth our best work in fear of being considered different, weird, or unworthy. And so, it pushes us to repeat the familiar, to please our insecurities and support the status quo

Perfection is an excuse to avoid coming face to face with our innate awesomeness, every inch of weirdness that makes us unique and special. But there is an alternative. We don't have the abide by the rule of perfection.

Make up new rules. Play a new game.

Engage with your craft, start a movement, complete a project, solve a problem, collaborate on an issue. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It hardly ever is.

Do it anyway. Do it because it matters. Do it because it's generous. Do it even if nobody gets it.

Most importantly, do it your way. Because nobody else can.
