The wrong gap

Greater market share.

One million more followers.

Twenty additional flavors.

Fifty more store locations.

One hundred new employees.

What’s it all for? Why are we in such a hurry to widen the gap?

Acquire more. Grow larger. Produce more. Increase popularity.

What we should really be doing is doubling down on caring more, understanding who we’re building for, and nurturing relationships that bring us closer (not farther) to the people we set out to care for in the first place.

Interestingly, when we focus on closing the gap other gaps (the ones that actually matter) begin to open up.

More trust. Deeper relationships. Greater impact.

Which gap gets you excited?

P.S. Check out this awesome interview with RJ Scaringe, founder of Rivian, on How I Built This with Guy Raz. It gets to the heart of knowing which gap to focus on.
