If we knew with complete certainty how our new idea, product, or feature would be received we wouldn’t need to ask this question.
But shipping new stuff is uncertain. We don’t actually know how it will be received until people are engaging with it. So how do we move forward when we don’t know with certainty where we’ll end up?
The best we can do is make an informed assumption of what might be useful for our users. The more we understand their needs and frustrations the stronger our assumptions can be. The stronger our assumptions, the closer we can get at building something around the elements that matter most.Uncertainty shouldn’t be something we shy away from.
It’s something we get to lean into. It’s why we’re here. It’s the whole point.
